Off-Shift Supervisor

SUMMARY

The Position of Off-Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all off-shift operations of Red Star Contract Manufacturing, including the sterile packaging and injection molding departments. This is an hourly position with a schedule of: Monday - Thursday, 6PM - 4AM. Position will require coaching and training employees in the set-up and operation of injection molding manufacturing equipment. The Off-Shift Supervisor will also oversee all operations concerning CNC machinists and Quality personnel, ensuring that all required processes are completed to produce parts that meet quality and ISO standards. The Off-Shift supervisor will confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, and others to resolve molding and assembly problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes the following but other duties may be assigned)

• Ensure employees are working safely and all safety measures and procedures are being adhered to
• Regular capacity planning and collaboration with the dayshift operations and General Manager
• Effectively organize and oversee a staff in a high mix, high complexity production environment
• Responsible for Daily, weekly and monthly KPI reports.
• Responsible for Project Planning and completion
• Responsible for identifying and implementing cost savings and process improvements
• Set-up moderately complex jobs and operate injection molding machines to produce medical device parts and assemble molded parts.
• Review and understand blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part.
• Setup and operate molding machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings to ensure functionality and performance.
• Start and observe molding machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance molding.
• Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments
• Verify dimensions using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges
• Responsible in assisting the training of personnel
• Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve molding or assembly problems
• Complete essential documentation, as required
• Ensure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury
• Maintain a clean work area and ensure safe operation of all equipment
• Must be available on reasonable notice for unscheduled overtime to meet production schedules
• Must be a team leader and effectively communicate with others
• Work with set-up and production associates to best utilize tooling and to minimize down time
• Flexible and continually maintain attention to detail

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• High school degree or equivalent, required
• Associates Degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing Engineering or other relevant field, required

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• 5-7 years' experience in medical device manufacturing environment
• Injection molding and/or sterile packaging in a medical device setting is preferred
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of Lean principles.
• 1-3 years' experience leading a team is required
• Experience driving a fork-lift is preferred

Associate will normally work in an office environment but may also be subject to high noise levels from machines, and physical hazards from moving machine parts. WHEN OVERTIME IS SCHEDULED, IT IS MANDATORY.
