CNC Programmer

SUMMARY: The Position of CNC Programmer is responsible for interpreting project blueprints, designing programs, and setting up machines to produce the component outlined in the program. The CNC Programmer will use computer design software to make CNC edits to specific tolerances requested by peer engineers and by customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes the following but other duties may be assigned)

• Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data in order to calculate part dimension compatibility with machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
• Use computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
• Observe machine trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly.
• Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications.
• Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arrive and perform basic machine maintenance as needed, such as cleaning and sharpening.
• Responsible to assist in the training of personnel as required.
• Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Assure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury.
• Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• A.S. or B.S. degree in related engineering field (Preferred)
• High school diploma or GED equivalency (Required)
• Minimum 2+ years CNC programming experience (Required)

• Blueprint reading, basic math, and understanding of measurement devices

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Mastercam
• Microsoft Office
• Strong attention to detail
• Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while working independently.
